Operational View

Sustainable Agriculture

NLT has been actively promoting sustainable tobacco cultivation. We are now educating our farmers on the importance of sustainability through tree planting and crop diversification. This aligns with global efforts to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially in agriculture. NLT’s approach includes training programs that help farmers understand both the “WHY” and the “HOW” of sustainability practices.

Outlook

1. Market Expansion - Target Regions: NLT aims to deepen its footprint in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, building on past exports to Indonesia, Turkey, and the UAE. - Partnership Development: Seeking joint ventures or agency agreements with international buyers to bypass intermediaries.
2. Contract Farming Growth - Expanding its network beyond the current 1,900+ growers, with a focus on climate-resilient farming practices and training programs for quality assurance.

3. Value Addition - Aligning with Zimbabwe’s Tobacco Value Chain Transformation Plan, NLT is exploring local cigarette production and cut rag processing to move up the value chain.

4. Infrastructure & Compliance - Upgrading its storage and processing facilities to meet international standards. - Strengthening traceability and certification systems to appeal to global buyers concerned with sustainability and ethical sourcing.
